50th Anniversary & State of the Chapter-March 2023
Dear Fraters and Sweethearts,
My name is Tyler Rooney, and I am serving as TKE’s Prytanis for 2023.
In Fall 2022, we had the pleasure of initiating a large pledge class of 30 brothers. They are excited to start their journeys as TKEs and have already made an impact. For Spring 2023, we have 14 potential new members dedicated to the process and eager to call themselves fraters.
2023 TKE Week will take place April 6-11. This year 50 brothers will travel to Memphis to visit St. Jude to learn about their important work. It is exciting to continue this tradition and raise money for an amazing cause. Due to the hard work of our Philanthropy chair Ben Main, we have assembled a team that is working on events, sponsorships, and competitions with other organizations. We will send out donation links and other information soon so that alumni who want to donate will be able to do so.
For Xi-Omega’s 50th anniversary, our Histor Sully Gregory has put together a fun and eventful lineup for the weekend of April 14-16, 2023. This weekend will double as parents’ weekend.
On Friday, April 14th at 7:30 PM, we are hosting a dinner at Blacksburg Country Club where we will announce the results and present awards for TKE Week. In addition, a few Xi-Omega alumni will speak about their TKE experiences. (If you are interested in speaking, please email our Histor sullygregory@vt.edu with your pledge class and graduation year.) If we raise enough money, we will be able to afford an open bar.
On Saturday, April 15th, the chapter is hosting a spring game tailgate where alumni and parents are welcome to attend. The tailgate starts at 10 AM and will be held at 503 Center Street near Lane Stadium where the game kicks off at 3 PM. That night there will be a Pig Roast at The Barn. We are hiring a catering company to come out and cater barbecue. It should be a fun evening, and we hope to see you there!
To afford all these events, we need donations from visiting alumni and parents. If you plan to attend, we ask that you please Venmo @Sullyg52 at least $50. (although more would be appreciated) If you can not afford to pay this, you are still welcome to come, though we ask that you please donate what you can. Everything you donate will be put toward the anniversary weekend, and any extra will go toward improving The Barn. Please donate as soon as possible as the down payment on the country club reservation is due this week. If you prefer to pay another way besides Venmo, email Sully and I, and we will work with you to find another option.
My executive board is excited and motivated to make significant improvements this year. If you have any questions or need anything, feel free to contact me. Thank you for your support.
YITB,
Tyler Rooney
